crystal cove state park....

Last weekend, the BF and I did something new since it was a beautiful sunny day....

We went on a little hike at Crystal Cove State Park in Newport Beach!  It was beautiful.... but I'm pretty sure we chose THE hardest trail they have.  It was pretty much straight up the whole time!  And I definitely came home with a little sunburn....

Despite the sunburn, {and the sweaty mess that I was at the end},it was a beautiful way to spend a Saturday!!

change of command ceremony...

A few weeks ago, the BF asked me to take some photos at his National Guard company's Change of Command ceremony.

Even though the photos didn't turn out as well as I was hoping {apparently soldiers don't know how to turn on the lights ;)}, it was definitely a good experience and opened a new door [I got the approval to come to drill some weekends and photograph their training!].....

And maybe next time I photograph an indoor ceremony, they will turn the lights on for me!!

sin city...

This past weekend was my first trip to Las Vegas!!

The BF had a work meeting at the Monte Carlo on Thursday and Friday, so I flew out there Thursday night!  After the 50 minute flight, it took my BF and I an hour to find each other at the airport... ugh, that was definitely the most confusing airport I have ever been in!  They don't label things very well in Nevada.

Since BF had his meeting Friday morning, I took my time getting ready, went to the Starbucks in the hotel for breakfast, spent some time by the pool, and walked around in the hotel shops until he was finished.  After meeting back up, and another experience with Nevada's horrible signage, we checked into our hotel for the rest of the weekend {a free one because of all of the BF's rewards points :)}... After a quick nap, we headed to the Wynn for a delicious buffet dinner, complete with Alaskan King crab legs and creme brulee... yum!  After dinner, we headed back to our hotel to change before heading out for the night.

Friday night was spent on Fremont St. (since we are 80 at heart, we only stayed out until midnight, lol).  Fremont St,. is definitely an experience!  There were Michael Jackson impersonators, an Elvis impersonator contest, and probably the most interesting crowd of people I have seen... We went there for the light show, which happened to be a tribute to The Doors (random, eh?)

Saturday was spent walking the strip... which was a serious journey!!  We started at Treasure Island and walked down to the MGM Grand, taking pictures along the way....

...and Saturday night was spent at The Beatles LOVE!  Unfortunately, no picture allowed, but it was absolutely AMAZING!!  I definitely recommend it!

All in all, it was a pretty good first Vegas experience! :)

mini-trip to prescott, az...

Right after I got back from my trip to NY, I went on another mini-trip to visit my grandparents in Prescott, AZ!

It was a great little vacation {Prescott is so pretty}, and it was wonderful seeing my grandparents again...

Despite the fact that it was APRIL, it snowed!!  It was very pretty, and kind of nice because it was all melted by the afternoon :)  It kind of made me want to live somewhere where it snowed.... kind of...

It was a great weekend of family, casinos, and thrift stores!

While I was in New York and New Jersey, I took a few portraits and head shots to build my portfolio.... ENJOY!!
